India’s shortest expressway: In a country like India, road connectivity is being given very high importance and accordingly, the number of highways and expressways is increasing by leaps and bounds. Talking about the expressways of India, their length and connectivity has increased immensely in the last decade or so and the rate is only increasing. However, here in this story, we will talk about a route, which is the shortest expressway in the country and is known to have beaten the likes of Eiffel Tower and Burj Khalifa with its short length.

As per media reports, India’s first urban expressway Dwarka Delhi-Gurugram is the country’s shortest expressway. Moreover, on a more interesting note, the highway is the country’s first elevated expressway, allowing travelers to move ahead of it. The Dwarka Expressway has been built as an alternate commute link between Delhi and Gurgaon, It is expected to ease the traffic situation on the Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway when completed.

Talking about the length, the length of Dwarka Expressway is only 29 kilometers, thereby making it the shortest expressway in the country. Also, 18.9 kilometers of Dwarka Delhi-Gurugram is in Gurugram, and the remaining 10.1 kilometers is in Delhi.

“Request for Proposal (RFP) to implement the barrier-free tolling system on the project Dwarka Expressway has been invited/floated, with the possibility of implementing it on other fee plazas in a phased manner depending upon the outcomes and efficacy of the implementation on the Dwarka Expressway,” Nitin Gadkari had said on the automated tolls at the Dwarka Delhi-Gurugram highway.

Toll tax on Dwarka Delhi-Gurugram highway

The toll fees for this expressway are set at Rs.105 for a one-way trip for cars, jeeps, and vans, while a round trip costs Rs.155. For buses and trucks, the one-way toll is Rs.355 and the round trip fee is Rs.535.
