A case has been registered against a lecturer of a private college in Jajpur district of Odisha. The student has alleged that her teacher tried to rape her. Police gave this information on Wednesday.

The third year student alleged that the economics teacher took her to an empty room of the college, promising her more marks in the upcoming examination. There, he allegedly tried to rape her and when she resisted, he threatened that he would fail her in the examination.

The student claimed, “I had informed the principal about this on the day of the incident itself. Without taking any action, he asked me to settle it amicably. Subsequently, I informed my family and filed a police complaint.” Registered.”

The college principal could not be contacted for comment. College students also staged a protest at the entrance on Monday, demanding action against the lecturer. Bari Ramchandrapur police station in-charge Jyotirmoyee Sethi said, “A case has been registered against the lecturer. He has absconded from the area and efforts are on to arrest him.”
