Khaps of Haryana openly announced their support to farmers, will show real strength in tractor march on 26th January

Chandigarh: There has been a tussle between farmers and the central government for the last 11 months. On the Shambhu and Khanauri borders, the farmers are adamant about marching to Delhi, while on the other hand the government is also not ready to listen. Farmers want to go to Delhi and present their various demands including the MACP Guarantee Act before the Central Government, but with the consent of the Centre, the BJP government of Haryana is not allowing them to go to Delhi. Now the farmers have once again announced a tractor march on 26 January.

Now Khap Panchayats, the most powerful organization of Haryana, has announced to support the farmers. In the Khap Panchayat organized at Jat Dharamshala of Hisar, it was decided that all the Khaps will participate enthusiastically in the nationwide tractor march to be held on 26th January.

In the meeting, prominent representatives of Meham Chaubisi, Dahiya, Saat Bas, Khatkhad, Satrol, Phogat, Hooda and Kadayan Khap warned that if the demands of the farmers were not met by February 14, a major agitation would be carried out across the country. Khap leaders urged the central government to go beyond correspondence and meetings and take concrete action. Khap Committee Coordinator Satish Chairman has demanded from the Haryana Government to cancel the draft of the new agricultural policy like Punjab. He also informed about the consent of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is fasting unto death at Khanauri border, to take medical care in respect of the Supreme Court.

Apart from this, an important issue related to Haryana was also mentioned in the Khap Panchayat. In which the farmers have demanded withdrawal of the cases registered against the farmers during the Khedi Chowpata farmers movement. Khap leaders say that the government had promised to withdraw the cases. Despite this, farmers are still receiving notices. He has demanded immediate withdrawal of these cases. The further strategy will be decided in the national meeting of the United Kisan Morcha to be held on January 24.
