“Win the series and then make changes”: Piyush Chawla doesn’t want India to play Mohammed Shami in the second T20I

Piyush Chawla is not in favor of India including Mohammed Shami in the second T20I against England in Chennai. He mentioned that the series win was more important for the hosts before adding benched players to the playing XI. Shami was left out of the team for the series opener as India went in with one specialist pacer, Arshdeep Singh. The decision was questioned by many former players including Nick Knight and Abhinav Mukund.

“It was a good game for the Indian team and I feel they should play the same playing XI in the second game. India should first win the series before making a change. Until there is a niggle to a pacer, we don’t want to see someone else entry in the playing unit,” Piyush Chawal said on Star Sports.

Suresh Raina agreed with Chawla’s viewpoint. “I would agree with Piyush Chawla that India should go ahead with the same team. Winning a series is most important and once you achieve that, you can change players in the XI,” he said.

India defeated England by 7 wickets at the Eden Gardens, with Abhishek Sharma (79 runs) and Varun Charravarthy (3 wickets) leading the batting and bowling charts.
