Suryakumar Yadav drops a massive statement regarding Sanju Samson’s place in team India’s T 20 set-up.

Suryakumar Yadav, the skipper of the Indian T20I team, seems to have clarity regarding who will don the gloves first: Sanju Samson, who has been India’s prime readiness after the era of Gautam Gambhir, notifies that the Keralite has made the most of all his opportunities.

Suryakumar appeared in a press conference ahead of the upcoming England T20I series and lashed out at the Kerala Cricket Association, claiming that it was a mere personal quarrel and that Samson will be instrumental in maintaining his magical run.

“There is no question right now for the wicket-keepers. Sanju has done well in his last 7-10 matches, and he has proved what he has got. That is what we require from all the players in the squad, not just wicket-keeper batsmen but all the six-seven batsmen, have good intent and keep the team first and in the right direction. Prabhu’s had that chance, and he took it very well, and I’m pretty happy for that, the captain shared.

In the wake of Rohit Sharma’s retirement from T20Is, Samson has found his place at the top of the order, having scored 471 runs in 12 matches at an average of 42.81 and a strike rate of 189.15. As the director of coaching, Gautam Gambhir has always championed for Samson’s inclusion in the side, which has consistently served him with game time since his appointment, where he continues to deliver continuously.

The 30-year-old, owing to his series of contests with South Africa, saw a different game: either he would make a duck or a century. He would look to carry on with the same with the bat when the T20I series against England kicks off on January 22, at Kolkata.

India have named Dhruv Jurel as the backup keeper for the T20I series, but it is practically certain that Samson would be keeping the wickets for the team throughout the series. However, there remains the possibility that he might not be behind the stumps for a game or two, owing to his potential to shine as a fielder, as seen in his exploits in the Indian Premier League.
