Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill flop on Ranji Trophy return; all dismissed on single-digit scores
Team India’s big players failed to get going on their return to the Ranji Trophy. Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill flopped for their respective teams.
Rohit was sent back after scoring 3 off 19 balls, while Jaiswal amassed 5 off 8 balls. Gill managed 4 off 8 balls in round six of the premier domestic tournament.
Appearing in his first Ranji Trophy contest in nearly a decade, Rohit looked clueless in the Mumbai vs Jammu and Kashmir Elite Group A game at the BKC ground in Mumbai. He couldn’t handle the fast bowlers Auqib Nabi and Umar Nazir.
On the fifth ball of the sixth over, Rohit tried to play a shot against Nazir but couldn’t time it and was caught.
Rohit Sharma, what a SUPERSTAR 🤩!!
To take a pause & catch your breath requires courage … More power to you … Respect 🙌 !! @ImRo45 pic.twitter.com/PTh5QDwC6q— 𝐏riyansh ♡ (@Priyanxhx) January 23, 2025
Nabi took the big wicket of Jaiswal when he trapped the batter in front.
Yashasvi Jaiswal heads back to the pavilion, not an ideal beginning for him and Mumbai.

Gill, who is playing for Punjab against Karnataka, was below par in his first Ranji Trophy outing after more than two and a half years. His previous game was in July 2022.
