Director Ram Gopal Varma sentenced to three months in prison in cheque bounce case

A Mumbai court has sentenced controversial film director Ram Gopal Varma to three months in jail, tv9 telugu reported.

The Andheri Magistrate’s Court has issued a non-bailable warrant against Varma in connection with the cheque bounce case. It has ordered him to pay a compensation of Rs. 3.7 lakh to the complainant within three months.

The court has made it clear that if he fails to do so, he will be sentenced to another three months in ordinary jail. In 2018, a person named Mahesh Chandra filed a case against Varma for cheque bouncing.

More recently, RGV reflected on his success and journey as director after re-watching his 1998 blockbuster ‘Satya’ upon its re-release on January 17. He admitted to being drunk on its success, in an emotional note, he dubbed as a confession note to himself.

“By the time SATYA was rolling to an end , while watching it 2 days back for 1st time after 27 yrs, I started choking with tears rolling down my cheeks and I dint care if anyone would see The tears were not just for the film, but were more for what happened since,” he wrote.
