Rocky Flintoff scored a counter century to lead England Lions to victory.

London: Rocky Flintoff, son of great England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, scored a historic century for England Lions against Cricket Australia XI on Thursday, surpassing his father and becoming the youngest player to score the first century for England Lions. At the age of 16 years and 291 days, Flintoff overtook his father's maiden century for England Lions, who scored at the age of 20 years and 28 days.

Flintoff came to bat with the score at 161/7 and scored 108 runs in 127 balls with nine fours and six sixes, with good support from Freddy McCann (51). He took the team to a score of 316, in which captain Alex Davis (76 runs with the help of nine fours and one six in 109 balls) and Ben McKinney (32 runs with the help of seven fours in 39 balls) had notable contributions. This was made in response to the 214 runs scored by CAXI in the first innings after electing to bat first. For CAXI, Ryan Hicks (64 off 84 balls, eight fours and a six) and Sam Elliott (32 off 57 balls, four fours) were brilliant in the first innings.

England Lions took a lead of 102 runs and CAXI ended the second day at 33/1, trailing by 69 runs. He made his first-class debut in August last year. Rocky has appeared in four first-class matches for Lancashire's Second XI, scoring 87 runs in seven innings with a best score of 32 and an average of 12.42. He has been much better in the List-A format, scoring 167 runs in seven innings at an average of 23.85, with a best score of 88, his only half-century. His List A debut came in July last year.
