New Delhi: Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev are set to face off in a highly anticipated semi-final of the Australian Open 2025 at the Rod Laver Arena on Friday, January 24. The Serbian legend is aiming to win his 11th title at Melbourne Park while Zverev is looking to win his first Grand Slam title.
Djokovic began his Australian Open campaign with a win against Nishesh Basavareddy where he lost the first but made a brilliant comeback. He also struggled against Jaime Faria and it took him four sets to beat Faria. But Djokovic looked clinical against Tomas Machac and Jiri Lehecka winning in straight sets.
In the quarter-final against Carlos Alcaraz, The Serbian legend lost the first set but turned the match around to win by 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 on Centre Court. He also qualified for his 50th semi-final at a major and is aiming to win his 100th match at the Australian Open.
Meanwhile, Zverev is in brilliant form and dropped only two sets in the ongoing Australian Open. He played in the semi-final in 2020, where he lost against Dominic Thiem. Daniil Medvedev defeated him in the semi-final in 2024. He will be looking to break the semi-final jinx and book his spot in the final at Melbourne Park.
