You can travel from Delhi to Mathura-Vrindavan in just Rs 3000, know here how to plan the trip.
People living in Delhi plan to take a day or two off and visit Mathura-Vrindavan. The specialty of this journey is that it does not take much time to go from Delhi to Mathura and two days are enough to visit this city. If you are also planning to go here, then I have brought important information for you. Actually, some time ago I had gone on a trip to Mathura and Vrindavan with my mother. I had not made any budget, but I wanted that we could tour the city thoroughly in at least Rs 1000.
You will be surprised to know, but in this two-day trip for two people, we spent only Rs 3000. This journey was not only a spiritual experience for me, but I completed it in a very economical and organized manner. If you also want to travel from Delhi to Mathura-Vrindavan on a low budget, then my experience and this itinerary will be very useful for you. We started our journey early in the morning. I took the train from Delhi to Mathura. A normal train ticket was available for just Rs 120. If you want AC facility then the ticket will cost around Rs 300. We reached Mathura Junction at around 9 o'clock. As soon as you exit the station, you will find many autos and rickshaws. Our hotel was also located about 2 kilometers away from Mathura station. We reached our hotel in just Rs 20. I had already booked a budget hotel to stay in Mathura.
Our hotel was near Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and there are many guest houses and hotels available here. Our room rent was Rs 700 per night. If you travel in off season, you can get guest houses even for Rs 500-600. After checking-in at the hotel, we enjoyed the famous breakfast of Mathura. We ate Kachori and Jalebi in the local market, which cost only Rs 50. After this we left for Dwarkadhish Temple and Vishram Ghat.
We also easily got a rickshaw to Dwarkadhish temple. We reached the temple for 20 rupees. We visited the Dwarkadhish temple, which is famous for its grandeur and craftsmanship. There is a resting place at a distance of 20-25 meters from the temple. We sat for some time on the ghat on the banks of river Yamuna and then left for Shri Krishna's birthplace. This temple is situated at the birthplace of Lord Krishna and the experience of devotion and peace here was amazing. Entry here is free. Your bag and mobile phone are kept at the gate itself. After this you enter the temple. You can also see the tableau in the courtyard. Its ticket is Rs 20. It takes you two hours to tour the entire temple.
In the afternoon we had pure vegetarian food at a local dhaba. We both ate the entire meal for Rs 200. There are many dhabas in Mathura where you can get cheap and tasty food. We were near Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, so we visited the surrounding area in the evening. We started on foot and roamed around the market for about two kilometers. Here we had our meal by eating kachori and puri. Next day we had to leave for Vrindavan.
We woke up early in the morning and left for Vrindavan from Mathura. We traveled by local bus. There was a bus stand at a short distance from our hotel, from where we got a bus to Vrindavan. The fare to go here was only Rs 50. We had not booked any hotel for Vrindavan in advance. We had planned to stay near Raman Reti in Vrindavan. As soon as we got down from the bus, we saw a couple of hotels. We booked a nice and clean hotel for just Rs 1200. The best part was that one meal and tea was available free of cost. All the temples were near here.
In Vrindavan we first visited Banke Bihari Temple. This temple is famous for the worship of Lord Krishna. The atmosphere here was devotional. There was no fee for visiting the temple. We reached here by shared rickshaw which rented for Rs 10 from Raman Reti. You will have to walk a long way to reach the temple. All the temples are near Banke Bihari Temple. After bidding farewell to Banke Bihari, we had prasad at the nearby langar.
After lunch we went to ISKCON temple. You can also walk from Banke Bihari to ISKCON temple or take a rickshaw for Rs 10. We did the entire journey on foot. The kirtan and peaceful atmosphere here really touched my heart. After this we went back to the hotel for rest in the afternoon. At 4 in the evening we left for Nidhivan. We again reached Nidhivan by rickshaw which cost Rs 10 per share. Nidhivan is famous for its mysterious stories. It is said that Lord Krishna and Radha Rani perform Raasleela here. Here you can have darshan of Radharani. There is Shri Radha-Raman temple at some distance from Nidhivan, after this we set out for the darshan of Radha-Raman.
