Sabalenka will face Keys in the title match at Australian Open

Melbourneमेलबर्न : The final of the Australian Open women's singles competition will be between defending champion Aryna Sabalenka and Madison Keys. It will take place at Melbourne Park on Saturday. Keys had won just one in her five previous matches against Swiatek, all of which she had lost in straight sets. However, when it mattered most, Keys defeated Swiatek in a match that lasted two hours and 35 minutes, as reported on the WTA website.

The 2025 Australian Open final will be the sixth meeting between Sabalenka and Keys, with Sabalenka emerging victorious in the round of 16 at the Beijing Open just three months earlier. In fact, world number one Sabalenka of Belarus has won four of her five matches on the WTA Tour, including two Grand Slam wins at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2023.

Keys' only win against Sabalenka came four years ago at the German Open in Berlin, where she overcame a tough three-set match to reach the quarterfinals. The 2023 US Open semi-final produced the most epic encounter: Keys opened with a 6-0 lead in the first set, before Sabalenka came back to win tiebreaks in the second and third sets to reach the final at Flushing Meadows .

Sabalenka reached the final after defeating 11th seed Paula Badosa in the semifinals on Thursday. After defeating Badosa 6-4, 6-2, the defending champions now have a chance to win their third Australian Open title. They extended their winning streak at Melbourne Park to 20 matches. The star player will remain undefeated in 2025, taking her winning streak to 11 matches. (ANI)
