The actress, who started her career with modeling in 1971, climbed the ladder of success in the film industry in a very short time, which many actors only dream of. This actress is one of the most popular and highest-paid actresses of the 70s and 80s. She was known for her glamorous acting style, her modelling and fashion, and was often cited in the media as a sex symbol. She made her acting debut with 'Charitra' in 1973. In the film 'Majboor', she was seen with Amitabh Bachchan and Pran. She left a tremendous impression on the audience with her work in this film.

We are talking about Parveen Babi who had her breakthrough with Dewaar (1975), and went on to establish herself with successful films such as – Amar Akbar Anthony (1977), Suhaag (1979), Kaala Patthar (1979), The Burning Train (1980), Shaan (1980), Kranti (1981), Kaalia (1981) and Namak halaal (1982). The 1991 film Irada marked her final film appearance before retirement.

Parveen Babi’s relationships

Her relationships were often a topic of discussion in the Bollywood. Parveen Babi’s name was associated with Amitabh Bachchan, Kabir Bedi and Mahesh Bhatt. While her relationship with Kabir Bedi and Mahesh Bhatt was well known, Amitabh Bachchan never accepted this. Along with the pain of repeated heartbreak at the peak of her career, Parveen Babi was suffering from an incurable disease called paranoid schizophrenia. Her boyfriend Kabir Bedi, while talking to Bollywood Hungama, said that Parveen was suffering from mental problems since childhood.

Parveen Babi used to see spirits

The actor had told Bollywood hungama that Parveen’s ancestors were Pashtuns and they used to work for the Mughal emperors. According to Kabir Bedi, Parveen, who lived close to historical buildings, used to see ghosts in those buildings. He told, “Her problems could have begun in childhood, because she used to see spirits in the monuments around her house, that were related to her family’s history: the Babi-Pashtun clan had served emperor Humayun at one point.

Mahesh Bhatt also mentioned his ex-girlfriend’s illness and said that Parveen used to see and think unreal things.

After battling paranoid schizophrenia for a long time, Parveen’s mysterious death shook Bollywood. On 20 January 2005, she was found dead in her flat. Her body kept rotting in the house for three days and no one had any idea about her death. Finally, when papers and milk packets kept piling up outside her house for several days, the neighbours informed the police with the suspicion of something wrong.
