Saif Ali Khan stabbing case update: Court extends accused’s remand till January 29

New Delhi: Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, was sent to police custody on Friday (January 24, 2025) until Wednesday (January 29, 2025) by a court in Mumbai. The court reportedly observed that there had been substantial progress in the matter and it was necessary to investigate other consequential aspects. The offence is serious and triable by the sessions court.

The defense lawyer presented a CCTV camera image from Saif’s house along with a photo of the arrested man in court and argued that the individual caught by the police was not the accused. It was further claimed that the two photos did not match and that the police made a wrongful arrest.

Accused’s fingerprints found

According to ANI, the Mumbai Police have found several fingerprints of the accused at the actor’s Bandra residence. The accused’s fingerprints were discovered on the stairs of the building, the door of the toilet and the door handle of his son Jeh’s room. Apparently, these fingerprints have played a significant role in the investigation.

The news agency further stated that the accused was about to flee to his native village in Bangladesh when he was nabbed. The person was detained at Hiranandani Estate in Thane on Sunday (January 19, 2025).

For the unversed, Saif was attacked by an intruder, last week, who entered his home with the intent to steal. After a scuffle broke out between the duo, the actor sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine and other body parts. Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for medical treatment. He underwent surgery at the medical facility following the attack.

Saif stepped out of Lilavati Hospital after on Tuesday (January 21, 2025). Upon his return to his Bandra residence, he waved to the media and even flashed his smile to the shutterbugs. He is currently believed to be recovering well after surgery.
