Is India suffering from the lack of an experienced bowler like Mohammed Shami? Score of 350+ is also falling short
IND vs SA ODI: After the 0-2 clean sweep in the Test, the Indian team is trying to settle the score by winning the ODI series, but the performance of the host team bowlers in the last two matches has made even the scores of 350+ seem low. Especially the lack of experience in the fast bowling department is clearly visible. In such a situation, questions arise that why a bowler with any experience was not included in the team against a strong team like South Africa?

Experienced bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were included in the Test series, but the team’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami was not given a chance. After this, Bumrah and Siraj were not included in the ODI series. Whereas the selectors did not even think about Shami. However, there does not seem to be any major reason to ignore this fast bowler. At the same time, bowlers like Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna are being given opportunities. Who no longer even have the experience of playing international cricket. Till now, Harshit has played 10 ODI matches and taken 20 wickets at an average of 23.35 and Prasidh has taken only 33 wickets in 20 matches at an average of 28.09.
Talking about Mohammed Shami’s experience, he has taken 206 wickets in 107 innings at an average of 24.05. Shami’s brilliant performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup cannot be ignored. It was only because of his sharp bowling that India was able to reach the finals. But, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Coach Gautam Gambhir repeatedly ignoring them and giving opportunities to young fast bowlers raises many big questions. Now it will be interesting to see whether the team management learns from past mistakes or not?
