ACB sent notice to former Excise Commissioner Ameet Kumar, wrote – arrest will be made if not present

Ranchi: The ACB, which is probing the liquor scam case, has sent a notice on Thursday to Amit Kumar, former Commissioner of Excise and Prohibition Department and Managing Director of Jharkhand State Beverages Corporation Limited (JSBCL), for questioning. He has been asked to appear before the investigating officer at the ACB headquarters on December 5. Santosh Kumar, the investigator of the FIR registered in ACB police station case number 09/2025 in the liquor scam case along with DSP of ACB, has sent this notice.

ACB interrogated Vinay Chaubey’s wife Swapna Sanchita at home, did not get answers to many questions.
In his notice, he has called IAS officer Ameet Kumar to AC headquarters on December 5 at 11 am. It is also written in the notice that if they do not comply with the notice or do not appear without any valid reason, then arrest action can be taken against them under the provisions of BNSS.

Former Commissioner Excise Ameet Kumar is currently the Commercial Tax Commissioner of Jharkhand. He was posted as Commissioner Excise in the Excise and Prohibition Department from August 4, 2021 to July 10, 2022. At that time, the Principal Secretary of the department was Vinay Kumar Choubey. During his tenure, the excise policy under the Chhattisgarh model was implemented in the state from May 1, 2022. Retail sale of liquor also started through JSBCL, with manpower being supplied through placement agencies.

IAS Ameet Kumar has informed him about this notice by corresponding with the Secretary of the Commercial Tax Department. He has told that on August 7 also, he had recorded his statement over telephone to the Research Officer of ACB and had given the desired information and cooperated with his questions. The case of corruption in the excise department that the ACB is investigating dates back to about a year after the end of his tenure. He has sought permission from the Commercial Tax Secretary to appear before the ACB.
