Refund money not received yet? Have you made these 3 mistakes: – ..

News India Live, Digital Desk: we all know that Income Tax Return (ITR) After filling, the most comfort is felt when that ‘ding’ message comes on the mobile “Your Refund has been credited…” (Your refund has been credited). Especially in 2025, if we filed our tax returns on time, it seems like a huge burden to wait for the money back.

If you have also filed ITR, but even after months the money has not come into your bank account, then there is no need to panic. Many times the matter gets stuck due to minor technical problems or one of our mistakes.

Let us understand today in simple language how you can check your refund status and if the money is stuck then what needs to be done to get it released.

Where is the money stuck? (Check status like this)

You do not need to visit any CA for this. You can check the status from your mobile sitting at home. There are two easy ways to do this:

Method 1: From Income Tax Portal (Easiest)

  1. First of all the income tax e-filing website (incometax.gov.in) go to.
  2. own PAN number And Password Enter and log in.
  3. As soon as the dashboard opens, you will see ‘e-File’ option, go there and ‘Income Tax Returns’ Select.
  4. Now ‘View Filed Returns’ Click on.
  5. Here you will get the complete outline of your filing. if there status “Refund Issued” If it is showing, then understand that money is on the way. but if there “Processed with Demand” Or if something else is written, then the matter is wrong.

Method 2: From NSDL website (without login)

If you do not remember the password, you can also visit the TIN-NSDL website and just enter your PAN number and assessment year to check whether the refund has been sent to the bank or not.

Why is the refund not coming? (These are 3 big reasons)

If you check the status and find that the process has been completed but the money has not been received, consider the following reasons:

  1. Bank account not valid:
The government now sends money only to those accounts which are pre-validated. Many times due to bank merger (like Syndicate Bank becoming Canara Bank) the IFSC code changes and we forget to update it. Check once whether the bank account is showing ‘Validated’ in your profile or not.
  2. Trouble with E-Verification:
Many people forget to file the return and forget to verify it. Remember, unless you verify your ITR with Aadhaar OTP, the department will not process it. Refund is a distant thing.
  3. Error in name:
If the spelling of the name in your PAN card and the name in the bank account is different, then the system stops the refund.

What to do if refund fails?

Suppose it is showing in status “Refund Failed”then you will have to submit the request again (Refund Re-issue Request).

  • Log in to the portal.
  • ‘Services’ Go to tab.
  • There ‘Refund Re-issue’ Click on.
  • Select your correct bank account and submit. That’s it, you will have the money in a few days.

a little patience and a little wisdom

So friends, if the refund is delayed, do not panic. First check whether you have received any email (Intimation Letter) from the Income Tax Department? Sometimes they deduct the refund if there is any old dues.

Keep your bank account in order and keep checking your emails. You will definitely get your rightful money!
