Before the India-Russia summit, PM Modi hosted a dinner in Putin’s honor

New Delhi, 4 December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening hosted a private dinner in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin at his official residence 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. The entire complex was decorated with India-Russia flags and special lights.

Putin reached New Delhi in the evening on his two-day state visit. PM Modi specially received him at the airport and both the leaders reached the residence in the same car.

PM Modi, while posting on the social media platform ‘X’, said that he is eagerly waiting for the meetings with Putin today and Friday. He wrote, ‘Happy to welcome our friend President Putin to India. Looking forward to the talks this evening and tomorrow. India-Russia friendship is time-tested and has been extremely beneficial for the people of both the countries. At the airport, the two leaders welcomed each other with a warm embrace and also watched and appreciated the cultural performance presented during the welcome ceremony.

In July 2024, Putin also hosted Prime Minister Modi at his official residence in Novo-Ogaryovo, Moscow. The 23rd India-Russia annual summit to be held on Friday is an important occasion to mark 25 years of the two countries declaring strategic partnership.

The Kremlin also described Putin’s visit to India as extremely important and said that politics, trade, economy, science-technology, culture, humanitarian cooperation and regional and international issues will be discussed during this visit.

On Friday, the second day of the visit, President Putin will be formally welcomed at Rashtrapati Bhavan, followed by formal talks at Hyderabad House. A joint statement will be issued after the talks and several bilateral departmental and trade agreements are expected to be signed. During his visit, Putin will also meet President Draupadi Murmu and pay floral tributes at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial.
