Raipur : On the occasion of Silver Jubilee, a series of programs were organized by the Forest Department in Balodabazar district. Its objective was environmental protection, biodiversity promotion and increasing awareness among local communities.
“Forest Herbal Festival” at Asanind
“Forest Herbal Festival” was organized at Bajrang Chowk of village Asnind under forest range Sonakhan. The Forest Range Officer and his team gave detailed information to the villagers regarding identification of medicinal plants, their uses, collection, processing and purchase of tendu leaves and other minor forest produce at support price. Along with this, he was also informed about public welfare schemes.
Tree plantation in Krishna Kunj, Balodabazar
Public representatives, school girls and teachers in large numbers participated in the tree plantation program organized at Krishna Kunj. The Deputy Forest Officer gave an inspiring message on environmental protection, climate balance, Kisan Vriksha Mitra Yojana and the importance of trees.
Rangoli competition in Swami Atmanand School
As part of the Silver Jubilee festival, a Rangoli competition was organized at Swami Atmanand Hindi Secondary School, Balodabazar. Students created attractive rangoli creations on topics like “Forest and Environment Balance”, “Biodiversity”, “Global Warming” and “Information Technology in Forest Conservation”. Concerned officers and employees of the Forest Department were present in the program.
‘One tree in the name of mother’ campaign in Dadhakhar
Tree plantation program was completed under the leadership of Forest Range Officer Baldakchhar in Government Pre-Secondary School Dadhakhar. Sarpanch, Forest Management Committee Chairman, teachers and villagers were present in large numbers. The program gave the message of environmental protection and respect for the cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh.
Bird Festival in Barabaspur
Information about the bird species found in the local dam was given in the “Bird Festival” organized in village Barabaspur of forest range Baldakchhar. Forest Management Committee Chairman and villagers were made aware of the importance of bird conservation. All these programs organized on the occasion of Silver Jubilee proved to be a commendable initiative towards strengthening environmental awareness and community participation.
