Mohit Sharma Retires: Former Chennai Super Kings bowler and MS Dhoni’s teammate Mohit Sharma has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. 37 year old Mohit shared this news in an emotional post on Instagram.

Let us tell you that Mohit Sharma has played 26 ODIs and 8 T20s for Team India. He has also played 120 IPL matches, 44 first-class matches, 78 List A matches and 172 domestic T20s.

Mohit Sharma wrote, “Today I am taking retirement from all formats of cricket with all my heart. Playing for Haryana, wearing the jersey of Team India and playing in the IPL has been no less than a big blessing for me.” In his message, Mohit Sharma thanked the Haryana Cricket Association, BCCI, coaches, teammates and all the IPL franchises. He especially thanked his wife, writing, “My wife always handled my anger and mood swings. I could not have reached this far without her support.”

14 years long cricket journey

Mohit Sharma started his professional career in 2011 by playing first class cricket for Haryana. Two years later, he entered T20 cricket for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Between 2013 and 2015, Mohit played 26 ODIs and 8 T20 International matches for India and took a total of 37 wickets.

In the IPL, Mohit Sharma started with the new ball, but gradually he started gaining recognition as a death overs specialist. After Kings XI Punjab, the biggest turning point in his career came in 2023, when at the age of 35, while playing for Gujarat Titans, he took 27 wickets and came very close to winning the Purple Cap.

Decision taken after his release from Delhi Capitals

Mohit Sharma last played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. He took only 2 wickets in 8 matches and his economy rate was 10.28. Mohit’s name was not in the retention list of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals had released him. Shortly after this he decided to retire.
