Ola stopped food delivery service, know the reason

Ola food delivery service discontinued

Ola Food Delivery Service: Ola has temporarily closed its food delivery services. According to recent reports, this service has been unavailable on Ola’s ride-hailing app for the past few days. The service was launched in September 2023 in partnership with the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).
Now it has been removed from the main Ola app and orders are also not being taken through ONDC.

Ola Foods was launched in 2019 as a cloud-kitchen business, with in-house brands and delivery through Ola’s logistics network. By December 2024, the service was expanded to 100 cities. However, despite the expansion of models at ONDC over the past year, the number of orders remained limited.
This reflects competition in the food delivery and cloud-kitchen space in India, where Swiggy and Zomato have a dominant position.

The future of Ola Foods is now uncertain, as the company has not yet clarified whether it will restart the service or exit the sector altogether.

The decision has been taken at a time when SoftBank-backed Ola is reviewing projects other than its core business. According to industry experts, the company has “paused operations” and closed down most of the activities.
