Traffic alert in Delhi…diversion on many routes, see advisory before leaving home
New Delhi : Russian President Vladimir Putin reached India late on Thursday night, where he was given a grand welcome in the capital Delhi. Putin will participate in many important diplomatic programs during this tour. In view of his visit, Delhi Police has imposed special traffic arrangements in the entire city on Friday. The administration has advised citizens to use public transport as much as possible and plan their journeys in advance, especially those headed to the airport, railway station or ISBT.
Movement limited on many major routes of the capital
Keeping in mind Putin’s proposed programs at places like Rajghat, Bharat Mandapam, Hyderabad House and Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi Police has imposed strict restrictions and route diversions on several important routes including Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Janpath and Pragati Maidan Tunnel. To limit the movement of vehicles in these areas, the police has issued a detailed traffic plan, so that security remains tight and there is no congestion on the convoy route.
Which routes will remain closed?
According to the traffic advisory, traffic will be closed or limited in many areas from W Point, A Point, ITO, Delhi Gate, JLN Marg, Rajghat Crossing, Shanti Van, Netaji Subhash Marg, Nishad Raj Marg, Salimgarh Flyover and MGM Pragati Maidan Tunnel to Hanuman Setu from 9 am to 12 noon. In view of the heavy rush and possibility of delay on these routes, passengers have been requested to use alternative routes.
Strictness in parking rules and action on violations
It has been clearly stated in the advisory that during this period, parking will be completely banned in areas like Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, some parts of Ring Road and Nishad Raj Marg. Delhi Traffic Police said on social media ‘X’ that such vehicles will be immediately removed by crane and necessary punitive action will be taken against those breaking the rules. No vehicle will be allowed to park on Mother Teresa Crescent, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road and Janpath from 10 am to 11:30 am.
Alternative routes and suggestions for travelers
Traffic Department Prithviraj Road, D.D.U. It is advised to use alternative routes like Marg, Maulana Azad Road and Asaf Ali Road. Police have also said that citizens should give priority to public transport and take special care of time while travelling, because any change will directly affect the major routes of the city. Especially those going to airports, railway stations and bus terminals have been advised to leave early and keep an eye on traffic alerts.
