Big agitation before 10th exam in Maharashtra, 25 thousand schools closed… Know what is the whole matter
Mumbai : About 25 thousand schools remained closed in Maharashtra today. This bandh is being observed by headmasters, teachers and non-teaching staff of private, partially aided and unaided schools in support of their demands just before the 10th board examination. Although its significant impact was not seen in Mumbai, many schools in Marathwada region remained completely closed. Due to this bandh, studies in about 18 thousand schools were affected.
What are the main demands of teachers?
Let us tell you that the teachers union has put forward many demands, the main ones being reconsideration of teacher adjustment, stopping the mandatory TET, reducing the burden of online and non-academic work, implementing old schemes related to the education sector and ending the contract practice. The union has warned that they will not back down from their demands under any circumstances.
Government’s strict warning regarding the movement
The government has made it clear that education work should not be disrupted in any way on December 5. Strict action will be taken against the headmaster, teachers and other employees who kept the school closed and one day’s salary will be deducted from those involved in the agitation. Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Dr. Mahesh Palkar has given strict instructions to the education officers of all the districts and Mumbai Municipal Corporation to open schools.
Increasing resentment among teachers
Resentment among teachers has increased after the government issued the order to cut salaries. Metropolitan Teachers Association said that one day salary cut is an attack on their rights and the organization will support the movement.
Possibility of increasing conflict between government and teachers
The teachers union says that the agitation will continue until their demands are met. In this situation, there is a possibility of increasing conflict between the government and teachers’ organizations and this may create further instability in the education sector.
