PM Modi-President Putin left luxury cars and rode in a white Fortuner, know why it is being discussed
New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin is on a two-day visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him warmly as soon as he reached Delhi airport. But the real surprise came when after the formal greetings, both the leaders set out in a simple looking white Toyota Fortuner. Everyone was surprised to see two big leaders going together in a normal SUV.
‘Unexpected’ journey from airport to PM residence
Usually the world’s top leaders travel in very safe and high-class vehicles. But this time neither PM Modi was seen in his regular Range Rover nor Putin in his Aurus Senat limousine with state-of-the-art security. Both the leaders chose a simple looking Fortuner and reached 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in the same. This is the reason why this car became a topic of discussion overnight.
Why is this Fortuner being talked about?
The information received from the registration number of the SUV in which both the leaders were seen traveling made people more curious. This vehicle is a Sigma manual transmission variant, which is based on BS-VI standards. This Fortuner, registered in April 2024, is part of the recently updated VIP fleet. Its fitness certificate is valid till 2039 and pollution certificate till June 2026. This SUV is completely perfect in terms of safety and reliability.
Why Indian Fortuner instead of Aurus Senat?
Wherever President Putin travels abroad, his official Aurus Senat is usually always present. This limousine is counted among the safest cars in the world. But this time Putin chose to travel in an Indian Fortuner instead of a foreign security vehicle.
This decision was not just a part of the security protocol, but became a symbol of trust, ease and strong relations between the two countries. This journey of two stalwarts in a normal SUV seemed to give a message of a new kind of friendship to the world.
How is Toyota Fortuner?
Fortuner is considered a symbol of power, trust and strength in India. From political convoys to security agencies, this SUV has been a favorite for a long time. Its 2.8 liter diesel engine provides approximately 201 bhp power and 500 Nm torque. The high ground clearance, four-wheel-drive and strong body make it unmatched even on tough terrains.
