Both countries are also gradually moving towards using their respective national currencies to settle payments. We hope to increase annual bilateral trade to $100 billion. Talks are also going on towards a free trade agreement between India and the Eurasian Economic Union.

Russian President Putin said that we are also working on the project to build the largest Indian nuclear plant. Three out of six reactors have already been connected to the energy network. Putin said that Russia and India are pursuing independent and self-reliant foreign policies with like-minded countries in BRICS, SCO and most other countries of the world. We are defending the core principles of the law as laid down in the UN. As the founding countries of BRICS, Russia and India have done and will continue to do much to enhance the organization’s authority. As you know, India will take over the chairmanship of BRICS next year. We will provide all necessary help to our Indian friends.

Putin said that our country has been helping to arm and modernize the Indian Army, which includes the Air Defense Force, Aviation and Navy, for the last half century.
