Rahul Gandhi’s allegations against the government
New Delhi Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused the central government and said that the government does not allow foreign guests to meet the leader of the opposition. He reminded that during the tenure of former Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh, it was a tradition that guests coming from abroad used to meet the leader of the opposition.

BJP MP Kangana Ranaut responded to Rahul Gandhi’s comment saying that his feelings towards the country are questionable. Kangana suggested that Rahul should join the BJP, saying that he too can become like Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Comparing Rahul with Atal ji, he said that if he joins BJP, he will get better recognition.

Rahul Gandhi told reporters at Parliament House that the tradition of welcoming foreign guests has now ended. He says the opposition leader has a different perspective and should be allowed to meet foreign officials. But at present the Modi government and the Ministry of External Affairs are not following this tradition.

Talking about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, Rahul said that it has been a tradition that a guest coming from abroad also meets the leader of the opposition. He said that the government does not allow him to meet even during his foreign travels, which is drawing criticism.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor supported Rahul Gandhi’s words and said that it is important to allow foreign guests to meet in a democracy. He believes that this is necessary in the democratic process.
