More than 1000 Indigo flights canceled in a single day, CEO told when will the situation improve

New Delhi: Indigo, the country’s largest budget airline, is facing a serious operational crisis these days. After the implementation of the new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules, the company is facing huge challenges in deployment and scheduling of pilots. Due to this, more than 1000 Indigo flights had to be canceled on Wednesday, causing great inconvenience to the passengers.

Company’s problems increased due to new rules

Under the new instructions of FDTL, changes have been made in the working hours and rest time of pilots. According to these rules, flight planning and crew management has become more complex. Due to non-availability of pilots at many stations, the company suddenly had to cancel a large number of flights.

CEO’s first statement

IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers has given a formal reaction for the first time on the operational crisis. He admitted that the company’s operations were being disrupted for the past few days and the situation was most affected on December 5. According to him, today most of the flights have had to be canceled as the entire system is being rebooted so that further operations can run smoothly.

Albers appealed to the passengers and said that those whose flights have been canceled should not reach the airport. The company is continuously giving them updates and efforts are on to normalize the situation as soon as possible.

When can we expect improvement?

The CEO assured that Indigo is working on completely organizing its network. He says that “the company’s operations will return to normal between December 10 and 15.”

apologized to the passengers

Albers expressed regret over the problems being faced by passengers due to the cancellation of a large number of flights. He said that this situation is temporary and the company will soon be back on track with reliable and regular services. Nearly lakhs of passengers on IndiGo flights across the country are hopeful that the situation will improve in the coming days and there will be no further impact on their travel plans.
