Vaibhav Suryavanshi tops Google searches as India’s most talked-about cricketer
Vaibhav Suryavanshi did more than just break records on the field in 2025, he captured the nation’s imagination. After dominating the Indian Premier League (IPL), India A, and age-group cricket, the teenage batting prodigy became India’s most-searched personality of the year. The left-handed batter first turned heads with his Ranji Trophy debut at just 12 years old, but 2025 marked the year his meteoric rise truly exploded.
At 14, Suryavanshi became arguably the most talked-about young batsman in Indian cricket. He made history by becoming the youngest male player to score a T20 century, smashing 101 off just 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in the IPL. His innings included 11 sixes and seven fours, and he reached his hundred in 35 deliveries — the second-fastest in IPL history and the fastest by an Indian. According to Google Trends’ Year in Search 2025, Suryavanshi topped India’s list of most-searched personalities, ahead of fellow young stars like Priyansh Arya and Abhishek Sharma.

Suryavanshi’s feats extended beyond franchise cricket. Representing India A in the Rising Stars Asia Cup, he scored a blistering 32-ball century against the UAE, including 15 sixes and 11 fours. On the domestic front, he continued to shine for Bihar, becoming the youngest vice-captain in Ranji Trophy history for the team’s opening two matches. He also smashed an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, setting a record as the youngest player to hit a century in the competition.
Other trending cricket personalities included Priyansh Arya (Punjab Kings), Ayush Mhatre (India U19 captain and Chennai Super Kings), and Shaik Rasheed. Interestingly, all top 10 trending personalities were cricketers, reflecting India’s cricket fever in 2025. The IPL was the most-searched trend nationwide, followed by tech giant Google Gemini, with the Asia Cup, Champions Trophy, and Pro Kabaddi League rounding out the top five.
