Preparation for major changes in GST return system… 17.35 lakh silver jewelery to be given unique identity in 3 months
New Delhi. Within three months of the introduction of Hallmarking, more than 17.35 lakh pieces of silver jewelery have been issued with Unique Identification Number (HUID). At the same time, the government has prepared to make major changes in the GST return system. Under this, GSTR-3B return will be filled completely automatically from the next financial year.
Although the silver hallmarking scheme remains voluntary from September 1, 2025, the marking of Unique Identification HUID has been made mandatory for any hallmarked silver material. “HUID hallmarking in silver jewelery is a major step towards strengthening purity assurance and eliminating the practice of fake hallmarking,” Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said in a social media post.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has made HUID mandatory for all hallmarked silver jewelery and articles from September 1, 2025. This is a major step towards consumer protection and preventing fake hallmarking.
The process of filing GST returns will be automated
The government has prepared to make major changes in the GST return system. Under this, GSTR-3B return will be filled completely automatically from the next financial year and taxpayers will not be able to make manual changes in it. This step has been taken to prevent GST fraud and make the return system transparent.
Under the new rules, the information related to sales in this return will be taken from the same form in which the businessmen already fill their data. That is, only the sales data recorded under GSTR-1 will be visible in GSTR-3B return. Information like sales, tax or input tax credit (ITC) will be included in the return, locked in the same form.
No changes of any kind will be allowed in this. You will also not be able to claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) through GSTR-3B. The ITC claim of the businessman will be automatically credited to his account directly from GSTR-2B. This will prevent cases of fake bills and wrongful taking of tax exemption.
