Parliament Ruckus: When Tharoor could not hear his own voice, he gave this great advice in anger
News India Live, Digital Desk: Often we see that when Parliament is in session, there is less debate and more ruckus. The job of the opposition is to corner the government, but in the process of cornering it, Parliament sometimes becomes a ‘fish market’. Today (December 5), something happened in Parliament which caught everyone’s attention. Senior Congress leader and MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor is known for his scholarship and English. But today he is in the news for ‘teaching a lesson’ to his own colleagues. What happened after all? The winter session of Parliament is going on. Opposition MPs in the Lok Sabha (especially Congress members) were opposing the government on some issue. They were shouting slogans loudly and creating ruckus in the well. The noise was so much that no one could be heard. Seeing all this, Shashi Tharoor lost his patience. He said something which might have hurt many opposition leaders, but was very important for democracy. What did Tharoor say? Expressing his displeasure in clear words, Shashi Tharoor said: We have not come to Parliament to raise slogans or shout. We have been sent here to discuss and debate issues. This is our job.” His signal was clear. If we just make noise, then when will we raise the issues of the people? Tharoor said that he wants to discuss, but the uproar of his own party and the opposition is hindering it. His statement shows that it is necessary to protest, but not by lowering the dignity of the Parliament. This stand of Tharoor is becoming very viral on social media. People are saying that I wish other leaders also think like this. This is why the public elects its representatives. She sends them there to find solutions to their problems and not to wave posters. Shashi Tharoor is often known to talk ‘out of the box’, but his words are logical. Now it remains to be seen whether his ‘class’ has any effect on the other MPs or will the same ‘noise’ continue from tomorrow?
