Not RCB! This franchise became the most searched IPL team in 2025

Royal Challengers Bengaluru managed to win their first IPL title in 2025. Despite playing the league since 2008, RCB were found wanting on most occasions. For Virat Kohli, it was one of the biggest moments as he was trying to lift the trophy since the inception of the Indian Premier League. Interestingly, RCB was not the most searched IPL team this year. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians also failed to claim the top spot.

According to Google, Punjab Kings was the most searched IPL team in 2025. They finished runners-up in the 18th season. Punjab also ranked among the most-searched sports franchises across the globe, after Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, and Toronto Blue Jays. Delhi Capitals came second in the most searched IPL franchise, followed by Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants.

“It means a lot to us because we build a brand people feel connected to. We want to win on the field and our fans relate to the stories we tell and the culture we celebrate,” Saurabh Arora, Chief Commercial Officer of Punjab Kings, said.

He further added: “It is humbling to me among the most-searched sports teams in the world. Our fans are emotionally connected to the team. We will continue to come up with stories, moments and experiences that bring fans close to us on and off the field,” he added.

Punjab Kings bought Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 crore in the mega auction and gave him a chance to lead the team. He was magnificent as a batter and captain, scoring over 600 runs and guiding the franchise to their first final since 2014. PBKS met Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final but failed to cross the finishing line.
