When asked for a pad, got ‘sorry’! Father kept pleading on daughter’s plight, video of Indigo’s cruelty goes viral
Indigo Staff Sanitary Pad Controversy: The operational problems in the country’s largest airline Indigo did not stop even on the third day. More than 550 domestic and international flights of the airline were canceled on Thursday. Thousands of passengers faced a lot of trouble as flights were delayed or canceled altogether.
172 flights were canceled from Delhi airport alone, while 118 flights had to be canceled in Mumbai, 100 in Bengaluru, 75 in Hyderabad, 35 in Kolkata, 26 in Chennai and 11 in Goa. Due to non-operation of flights, there was anger among the passengers and ruckus was seen at many places at the airport. Many such videos are going viral on social media, in which people are seen questioning the staff and asking for help.

Indigo staff refused to provide sanitary pads
Meanwhile, a video surfaced which angered people even more. In the video, a passenger is seen reaching the IndiGo counter and asking the staff for sanitary pads for his daughter. He says that his daughter has suddenly started her periods and blood is falling, hence she needs pads immediately.
It was seen in the video that the Indigo staff first hesitated to listen to him and later flatly refused. The staff says—“Sorry sir, we can’t do that.” This incident has sparked debate on social media. While many are accusing the airline of lacking understanding of human sensitivities, some say that the airline’s SOPs (rules) do not allow such cases.

The condition of the airline is from bad to worse.
DGCA has expressed concern over the continuously increasing flight cancellations of IndiGo. DGCA said that the number of flight cancellations has reached 170–200 per day, which is much higher than normal. According to combined data from six major airports, IndiGo’s punctuality rate was only 19.7 per cent on Wednesday, compared to 35 per cent on December 2. IndiGo has been facing shortage of pilots and cabin crew for a long time.
Since the implementation of the new FDTL rules, it has become mandatory for pilots to give more rest time and night landings have also been limited. In such a situation, the number of flights decreased and the number of delays increased. Passengers hope that the airline will take care of the situation soon so that they do not have to face such problems again.
