Why is India not able to take the Asia Cup trophy, ICC and BCCI bowed before PCB; Know the whole matter

Asia Cup Controversy: The Indian cricket team created history by defeating Pakistan in the final of Asia Cup 2025 on September 28, but now even after 68 days the team has not been able to get the trophy. BCCI has also put this issue on hold. According to the report of Dainik Bhaskar, BCCI is proving unsuccessful in getting this honor to the Indian cricket team.

According to Bhaskar’s report, no officials were present in the office of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) located in Dubai. The trophy was not found in two outer rooms on the first floor of ACC and the chamber of ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi. ACC office staff said the trophy was in Abu Dhabi, but it could not be confirmed whether the trophy was actually there or whether Naqvi had taken it with him to Pakistan.

India had refused to take the trophy from the hands of Mohsin Naqvi

A month ago a BCCI official had said that the trophy is in Abu Dhabi. Later, when BCCI officials went to ACC headquarters, they got information that the trophy was with Mohsin Naqvi. After India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from PCB Chief Naqvi. Angered by this, ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Home Minister of Pakistan, went away with the trophy.

There was discussion in ICC board meeting

This issue was last discussed in the ICC board meeting from 4 to 7 November. On November 8, BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said that PCB Chairperson Naqvi was also present in the meeting. He said the trophy issue was not on the agenda in the formal meeting, but the ICC held a separate meeting for both sides. Senior officials of the board were also present in this meeting.

BCCI is giving so much emphasis on trophy

Devjit Saikia said that both sides will work on some solution to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Now that the snow has melted, several options will be considered. There will be options from the other side and we will also give our options to resolve the issue and reach a mutually agreeable solution. However, the top BCCI officials are not putting that much emphasis on bringing back the trophy. The reason is that India will host the T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka next year and the board does not want to affect the atmosphere of the World Cup due to any new controversy. As of now, there is no clear path for India to get the Asia Cup trophy.
