The protest against the lease allotted for mining on Jaurahe drain of the area and the illegal bridge built by the contractor continues. On Friday, the contractors reached Manjha Gurudwara for talks in view of the protest by Sikh and farmer organizations but no agreement could be reached. The mining department has allotted lease to contractors for mining in the Jauraha river flowing in the area. The place on Jauraha river where the lease has been allotted is an area affected by erosion.

After getting the contract, instead of using the road leading to Manjha, the contractor has built a temporary bridge by laying a home pipe on Jauraha river. Preparations are being made to remove the sand filled dumper from above. Due to the construction of the same bridge, the flow of the river has diverted to the other side due to which the crops standing on the south side of the river can be damaged significantly. The villagers have opposed the sand mining by the contractor. Villagers say that the administration has not yet told where Jaurah drain is and where to dig it.

Excavation has been started arbitrarily by the contractor. After which the villagers of Manjha held a meeting in Manjha Gurudara under the leadership of officials of Sikh and farmers organization and protested. Contractor Jai Singh, who reached the Gurudwara on Friday, made a lot of efforts with great respect and morale. During this, the farmer leaders clearly said that they will not allow mining to take place until they talk to the DS. During this, leaders of Sikh organization Paramjit Singh, Kewal Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Karam Singh, Jasveer Singh Bajwa, Harmeet Singh, Soniwal Singh were present.
