95 more mohalla clinics will be locked in Delhi, Rekha government made the list

95 more Mohalla Clinics located near Ayushman Arogya Mandir in the capital Delhi may soon be closed. A list of all such clinics established during the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regime has been prepared. Due to this step of the government, the jobs of the employees working in these mohalla clinics are also in danger. Officials of Mohalla Clinic Cell, working under the Directorate General of Health Services of Delhi Government, are refraining from commenting on this matter. It is noteworthy that earlier 553 mohalla clinics were operating in Delhi. In many of these centres, some clinics have already been closed due to problems such as absence of doctors.

AAP targeted

AAP’s state convenor Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that on one hand the government is preparing to close mohalla clinics, while on the other hand it is promoting opening of premium liquor showrooms in metro stations and shopping malls. He said that if mohalla clinics are closed, it will become very difficult for common people to get treatment.

It is noteworthy that Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had inaugurated more than 70 new ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandirs’ in Shakti Nagar on November 25. The Chief Minister had described this as an important step towards modernizing and strengthening the primary health care system of the capital.

He had said that through these Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, citizens will get facilities like regular health check-up at one place, free availability of essential and general medicines, maternal-child health services for pregnant women and children, mandatory vaccination, consultation related to disease prevention and health awareness, and online tele-consultation from expert doctors.

The Chief Minister said that the aim of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to provide better, affordable and free health services to every citizen without any hindrance. He said that Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Janaushadhi Kendra, Vaya Vandana Yojana and now Ayushman Arogya Mandir together are making the health system of Delhi more modern and stronger. The government’s commitment is that every patient gets timely treatment, every citizen gets affordable medicines and there is assured availability of primary health services in every colony.

The Chief Minister said that in the mohalla clinic model implemented by the previous governments, neither adequate doctors, nor medicines nor necessary staff were available. On the contrary, he claimed that Ayushman Arogya Mandirs function like real primary health centers, where bandages, essential medicines, vaccinations, family planning services and other basic health facilities are regularly available.

He said that till now around 250 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been established in Delhi, and the government aims to open more than 1000 such centers in the capital. In view of the increasing pressure on big hospitals, expansion of health facilities at the colony level is very important. The government plans to establish a total of 15 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in every assembly of Delhi.

The Chief Minister said that through Ayushman Yojana, Jan Aushadhi Centers and expansion of new health services, continuous efforts are being made to develop Delhi as an emerging medical hub not only for the country but for the world. He said that in the last 8–10 months, the government has worked with 24×7 commitment to provide timely essential health facilities to every citizen. The Chief Minister appealed to the people to cooperate in the overall development of their areas, so that the Prime Minister’s vision for Delhi can be realized and the capital can be made a strong, healthy and modern city.
