Shock to Chirag Paswan’s party, Rohtas District President Kamlesh Rai arrested; Allegation of kidnapping and rape of a minor

Bihar A very serious and shameful case has come to light in Rohtas district. Kamlesh Rai, the current head of Karup Panchayat of the district and chairman of PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Committee), was arrested by the police on Friday. Kamlesh Rai is no ordinary person; He is also the Rohtas district president of Chirag Paswan’s party Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) i.e. LJP (Ram Vilas). He is accused of kidnapping a minor girl (under 17 years of age) and sexually assaulting her for several days.

The girl had left her home on the morning of 5 November 2025 to study coaching in Sasaram, as she used to do every day. But that day she did not return home till evening. The family members became very worried, they searched here and there, inquired with relatives and friends, but no trace of the girl was found. Six days later, i.e. on 11 November, the girl’s mother reached Sasaram police station and lodged a written complaint. The mother directly said that her daughter had been seduced by Karup Panchayat head Kamlesh Rai. The mother was already suspicious because her daughter was in contact with Kamlesh Rai earlier also.

The girl returned home, then the whole secret was revealed

After a few days, when the girl suddenly returned home, she told her mother the whole truth while crying. She said that Kamlesh Rai tricked her into loving her, won her trust by talking nice words and then took her to different places in Sasaram city and kept her with him for three-four days. During this, he forcibly had physical relations with the girl and sexually assaulted her. When the police checked the mobile phone with the girl, they found a SIM card in it which was registered in the name of Kamlesh Rai. This convinced the police that the accused was none other than Kamlesh Rai.

What did the police do?

First a case of kidnapping was registered on 11 November. After the girl returned home and gave her statement, she was given medical treatment at Sasaram Sadar Hospital on Friday (5 December 2025). Evidence of sexual assault was found in the medical report. The girl’s statement was recorded before the magistrate under section 164. After this, the police took immediate action and arrested Kamlesh Rai from his native village Bhainsahi Kala. The case is no longer just about kidnapping; The police have imposed strict sections of the POCSO Act, and have also added charges of rape and exploitation of a minor.

What did the officers say?

Sasaram Sadar’s SDPO Kumar Vaibhav said, ‘Initially the case was of missing and kidnapping. But as the investigation progressed and the victim’s statement came, the matter became very serious. After medical examination, we immediately arrested the accused Kamlesh Rai. Right now the inquiry and investigation is going on, no one will be left guilty.

What is the situation now?

Accused Kamlesh Rai will be presented in the court and he will be sent to jail. Since the case is related to a minor girl and POCSO Act is imposed, the punishment can be very strict, ranging from at least 10 years to life imprisonment. People are also shocked and angry at the fact that the same person who was elected head of the village and made the district president by the party, can commit such a heinous crime with an innocent girl. At present, the police is investigating the entire matter in depth and is seeing whether anyone else is involved in it. Security is also being provided to the victim and her family.
