Air travel crisis in the country due to failure of IndiGo’s system… A view like stations at the airport
New Delhi. Our beloved India is currently facing an air travel crisis. The common man, who dreams of traveling in less time through high-speed trains, is currently troubled by the closure of IndiGo Airline. The country’s largest airline IndiGo Airline has canceled more than 1 thousand flights in the recent past, due to which airports across the country have started looking like railway stations. There is chaos all around and people are seen worried about reaching their destination.
There is no single reason behind this crisis of IndiGo airline, which runs the largest network of domestic flights. There are many changes that came one after the other behind this. So let us know what happened that thousands of people were seen stuck at the airport.
How did the crisis escalate?
Indigo airline was facing the problem of flight delays since the beginning. Initially, the airline had blamed minor technical glitches, new timing of flights for winter, crowd at the airport and weather as the reasons behind this. However, the real blow to the airline came when the government implemented new rules called Flight Duty Time Limitation, the purpose of which was to protect pilots from fatigue.
Government issued new rules
These rules have become a big problem for IndiGo, which is already operating more flights with shortage of staff. However, the government took this step only for the welfare of the pilot and the airline. But it was not easy for the already trapped Indigo to bear this rule. These rules caused a large number of pilots to go on mandatory rest, leading to a severe staffing shortage. Due to this many flights had to be cancelled.
airbus 320 warning
The real danger for IndiGo airline, which is facing problems due to minor technical glitches in flights and new rules of the government, came to the fore when late night flights started getting affected after the warning of Airbus 320. The new rules came into effect after 12 o’clock in the night, due to which the process of cancellation of many flights started.
indigo big size
For IndiGo, which operates the largest number of flights in India, its large size has become a cause of trouble. However, amid the rush of passengers at the airport and frequent cancellation of flights, the government has given some relief in the new rules. DGCA withdrew an important rule by issuing a new order on Friday. According to this, now the weekly rest of pilots cannot be converted into leave. This rule removed by the government will make it easier for airlines to rotate pilots, which is expected to reduce some pressure.
Displeasure of pilots union
Indigo may be hoping for stability after the removal of this rule, but the pilots association seems angry with it. Pilot unions allege that IndiGo’s management did not prepare for these rules and problems in time. According to the union, the management of IndiGo was aware that the government was going to implement such rules. New recruitment should have been done for this, but the airlines did not do so. They further reduced the already short staff, which worsened the problem.
Many experts say that Indigo has tried to put pressure on the government by promoting this crisis. This will allow relaxation in the rules implemented by the government. However, the pilots union has linked it to the safety of pilots and air passengers.
Whatever may be the reason, it is the common man who is facing the problem. There is a huge crowd at airports across the country at this time. Every day, hundreds of flights are being canceled by the airlines, due to which a station-like situation is being created at the airport. The government believes that complete stability can be achieved by 10 February 2026.
