Humayun supporters took to the streets carrying bricks for Babri Masjid…atmosphere heated up in Bengal

Murshidabad. A new controversy has arisen in Beldanga in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. Here, suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir has announced to lay the foundation of a new mosque as a copy of the original Babri Masjid that was demolished in Ayodhya in 1992. This program is going to be held on 6th December i.e. today, which is also the 33rd anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid.

The announcement has created a political and social uproar, and the local administration has deployed tight security. Meanwhile, many supporters are reaching Beldanga with bricks. In support of the program, hundreds of people including Mohammad Shafikul Islam, resident of North Barasat, have been marching towards Beldanga since morning carrying bricks on their heads. Speaking to ANI, Shafiqul Islam said- I will go to the place where Humayun Kabir will lay the foundation of Babri Masjid. These bricks will be my contribution for the construction of the mosque. Hashtags like Babri Masjid are trending on social media, where supporters are calling the event a demand for justice.

Humayun Kabir is TMC MLA from Bharatpur assembly constituency. He had announced this program on social media last month. He said- We will lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid in Beldanga, Murshidabad district on 6th December. This construction will be completed in three years and various Muslim leaders will participate in it. Kabir has claimed that this mosque will be built on 20 bighas of land, the estimated cost of which is Rs 125 crore.

He also said that around three lakh people will participate in the event, which may affect the National Highway-12 (NH-12). Targeting the TMC leadership, Kabir said- I do not care about my life. Babri Masjid will be built on our trust land. If the administration tries to stop it, the highway from Rejinagar to Baharampur will be blocked. After the suspension, he talked about launching a new political party on December 22 and fielding candidates on 135 seats in the 2026 assembly elections.
