Agentic AI Phone: China has once again created history in the world of technology. Where till now in smartphones AI Assistants were limited to just answering, setting reminders or carrying out small tasks, but now China has introduced a phone that looks at the screen like a human, opens apps, fills forms and does the entire work on the user’s request. The discussion about this unique agentic AI phone is spreading rapidly across the world.

ZTE and ByteDance’s agentic AI smartphone: Nubia M153 prototype

The Agentic AI Smartphone Nubia M153 (Prototype) developed by ZTE and TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has brought a new revolution in the tech industry. This phone is not only smart, but also a completely automatic (Self-Operating) AI Phone. Businessman Taylor Ogan of Shenzhen, China shared its demo video on his X account, after which this phone came into global headlines. The device runs on the Android system and is equipped with ByteDance’s advanced AI agent Doubao, which is already used by millions of Chinese people.

What can AI do in a phone?

According to the demo video, complete control of this phone has been given to AI. Doubao AI operates the phone like a human:

Opening the correct app by looking at the screen
filling the form
call or message
Complete multi-step tasks yourself
Tasks like download, booking, payment
Interact with other AI bots when needed
Choosing the right app for the user

That means AI operates the phone in the same way as a human operates with his fingers.

Most amazing features: Which are not found in any iPhone or Samsung in the world

1. Booking a man to stand in line

Taylor Ogan said “Book someone to stand in line for me.” The AI instantly opened the right app, filled the form, booked the service and showed the confirmation, all without asking which app to use.

2. Hotel booking with just one photo

Ogan took a photo of the hotel building and said “Book a hotel for tonight.” The AI identified the hotel from the photo, checked room availability, entered the date, checked the rate, even looked at the pet policy and completed the booking within minutes.

3. Booking a taxi and changing location en route

The AI opened the right app by looking at the GPS, booked the ride and automatically changed the drop location during the journey and sent updates to the taxi system, which no global AI assistant has been able to do till date.

Hardware and AI models: How does it work?

This prototype runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and 16GB of RAM. The work of an AI agent is divided as follows:

Doubao: to understand and decide
Nebula-GUI: To perform human-like touch-actions inside the phone

It is an OS-Native GUI Agent, specially trained on Chinese mobile UI. The biggest thing is that such advanced Agentic AI is not yet present in any iPhone or Samsung device in the world.
