Indigo Airlines today has a share of 65.6 percent in the air flight sector in India, that is, more than 6 out of every 10 passengers traveling by air in India use Indigo flights. Rahul Gandhi had warned the government about the ill effects of this monopoly. Rahul had written Match-fixing monopoly vs fairplay business – time to choose freedom over fear. Rahul Gandhi had expressed concern over the increasing capture and monopoly of the Indian economy by a few selected big businesses. He said that economic monopoly ultimately weakens democracy because wealth and power become centralized in a few hands. That is why he talked about “freedom over fear”.
Today more than 400 flights cancelled, 2000+ flights canceled in 4 days, 3 lakh passengers are worried. On which Rahul Gandhi said that this fiasco of Indigo is the price of the monopoly model of this government. Once again, common Indians are having to pay the price. In the form of delays, cancellations and helplessness. India deserves true competition in every sector, not a match-fixing monopoly.
