South Africa’s batting was disappointing. For the first time in the series, he was asked to bat first and was out inside 50 overs. Rickelton was out in the first over, but Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma withstood the early pressure, adding 100+ runs for the second wicket and building a strong platform for the middle order. Even after Bavuma was out, De Kock continued to play and scored his 7th ODI century against India, a brilliant individual effort. De Kock played a quick century inning of 106 runs. But after this the innings changed direction rapidly.

Prasidh Krishna, who had given away 27 runs in his first 2 overs, made a brilliant comeback by giving away 25 runs in the next 5 overs, taking 3 vital wickets of Britzke, Markram and De Kock. From there, it became Kuldeep Yadav’s show. The wrist-spinner played with the lower middle order and performed brilliantly by taking 4 wickets for 41 runs. Prasidh also took four wickets in his name. South Africa was out for 270 runs, which seems less than expected considering the pitch. One good thing for them is that the dew is not as heavy as in Ranchi or Raipur. He hopes it will keep him competitive.
