Indigo Flight Cancellation: More than 800 flights canceled even today, Indigo giving refund to passengers amid strictness of DGCA
Mumbai IndiGo, the country’s largest domestic airline, said it canceled more than 800 domestic flights on Saturday. On Friday, the company had canceled more than 1,000 flights. The company said it is addressing all issues related to ticket refunds to customers on “priority”.
IndiGo has been given major relaxations by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in the second phase of new flying duty and rest period norms for pilots. The company had told the aviation safety regulator that it was facing significant transition challenges in roster planning and crew availability under the Phase-2 FDTL requirements.
IndiGo said it is working “vigorously” to get its operations back on track across the network. “The number of canceled flights on Saturday is less than 850, which is much less than Friday,” the airline said in a statement. We are working towards reducing this number gradually over the next few days.
According to the statement, multiple IndiGo teams are focusing on stabilizing schedules, minimizing delays and providing support to customers during this period. The statement said, “We are working closely with all airports and partners to provide timely updated information to customers at the terminal, on our website and through direct notifications.” In the context of refunding their money to passengers, IndiGo said that for assistance, customers can visit the company’s website or contact the customer support team.
Earlier in the morning, the Civil Aviation Ministry directed the airline to complete the ticket fee refund process for canceled flights by Sunday evening, and ensure that the luggage of passengers is delivered to them in the next two days, as there has been massive disruption in its services. The ministry warned that any delay or non-compliance in the duty refund process will lead to immediate regulatory action.
