After the excellent bowling of Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna (four wickets each), thanks to the brilliant innings of Yashasvi Jaiswal (116 not out), Virat Kohli (65 not out) and Rohit Sharma (75), India defeated South Africa by nine wickets with 61 balls remaining in the third and decisive ODI on Saturday. With this, India also won the three-match series by 2-1.

Chasing the target of 271 runs, the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma gave a great start to India by making a partnership of 155 runs for the first wicket. During this, both the batsmen took a lot of notice of the South African bowlers and completed their respective half-centuries. Rohit played his famous pull shots and with a flurry of boundaries, he looked close to scoring 100 runs. In the 26th over, Keshav Maharaj gave the first and only success to South Africa by dismissing Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma played an innings of 75 runs in 73 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. After this, Virat Kohli, who came to bat, played carefully for 10 overs and Jaiswal suddenly changed gears and gave India victory. After scoring 50 runs, Jaiswal started playing in T-20 mode and scored his first century. Kohli gave India victory by hitting a four on the fifth ball of Lungi Ngidi, who was bowling the 40th over.

India scored 271 runs for one wicket in 39.1 overs and won the match by nine wickets. ‘Player of the Match’ Yashasvi Jaiswal played an inning of runs (116 not out) hitting 12 fours and two sixes in 121 balls. Whereas ‘Player of the Series’ Virat Kohli scored runs (65 not out) in 45 balls, hitting six fours and three sixes.

Earlier, Indian bowlers had bowled out South Africa on the score of 270. Today, South Africa, who came to bat after losing the toss, had a bad start and lost the wicket of Ryan Rickleton (0) in the very first over. Arshdeep got him caught out by wicketkeeper KL Rahul. After this, captain Temba Bavuma, who came to bat, handled the innings along with De Kock and scored runs rapidly. Both the batsmen added 113 runs for the second wicket. Ravindra Jadeja ended this partnership by dismissing Bavuma in the 21st over. Temba Bavuma scored 48 runs in 67 balls hitting five fours.

Corbin Bosch (nine) and Lungi Ngidi (one) were also dismissed by Kuldeep. On the fifth ball of the 48th over, Prasidh Krishna bowled Otneil Bartman (three) and ended South Africa’s innings at the score of 270. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets for 41 runs. Prasidh Krishna also got four wickets. Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja dismissed one batsman each.
