What symptoms are seen when sugar level increases? Know some important measures

In today’s fast-paced life, diabetes has become one of the rapidly growing health problems. Due to poor lifestyle and wrong eating habits, this disease is no longer limited to the elderly only, but is also seen in youth and children. Diabetes occurs when insulin hormone is not produced in sufficient quantity in the body or the body is not able to use it properly.

Normally fasting blood sugar should be between 70 to 100 mg/dL. A level of 100 to 125 mg/dL indicates pre-diabetic condition, while sugar above 126 mg/dL is considered confirmed diabetes. Therefore, both timely identification and prevention of symptoms are very important.

Why does sugar level increase?

According to experts, insulin not being produced properly or not working properly is the main reason for increasing blood sugar. Apart from this, excessive junk food, obesity, lack of physical activity, constant stress, lack of sleep, hormonal changes and family history also promote this disease. If sugar remains high for a long time, heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves and skin can be seriously affected. This causes complications like heart attack, stroke, kidney problems, weak eyesight and non-healing wounds in the legs.

Early symptoms of high sugar

Excessive thirst, frequent urination, increased hunger without any reason, feeling weak, blurred vision and sudden weight gain or loss. If sugar increases too much, serious problems can arise. Conditions like rapid breathing, confusion, increased heartbeat, vomiting, dehydration, unconsciousness and ketoacidosis. Frequent infections or persistent itching on the skin are also warning signs. If such symptoms appear, you should immediately contact a doctor.

How to keep sugar under control?

1. Do exercise for at least 30-45 minutes every day.
2. Maintain distance from sweets, refined flour and fast food.
3. Include vegetables, pulses, salad, fiber and whole grains in your diet.
4. Keep your weight under control and get enough sleep.
5. Try to reduce stress and drink adequate amount of water.
6. Take the medicines given by the doctor regularly and keep checking your sugar from time to time.
