Chhattisgarh: P.M. Under the Surya Ghar free electricity scheme, a village in Raigarh will become ‘Solar Model Village’ – Keeping an eye on every movement of the media world.

District level selection committee started the selection process, competition will run for the next six months in the 10 most populous villages.

Selection of model village will be decided on solar plant installation, public awareness, community participation and innovation.

Chhattisgarh News: Central government’s ambitious PM. Under the Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, a village in Raigarh district will be developed as a completely solar energy based solar model village. In this direction, the District Level Selection Committee has formally started the selection process. In the meeting held under the chairmanship of the Collector, it was decided that only those villages of the district whose population is more than 5 thousand will be included in the competition. Since there are a limited number of villages of this category in the district, the administration has decided to select 10 villages with the highest population and include them in a six-month competitive process. It is noteworthy that on the instructions of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, the districts have been instructed to work continuously to speed up the expansion of renewable energy in the state, so that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of solar energy for every house can be realized on the ground.

According to the guidelines issued by the Central Government in Raigarh district, the 10 gram panchayats selected for the competition in the district include village Kudumkela of Gharghoda development block, village Tamnar of Tamnar development block, village Khairpur of Raigarh development block, village Vijaynagar of Dharamjaigarh development block, village Taraimal of Tamnar development block, village Gahanjharia of Lailunga development block, village Gadhamariya of Pusaur development block, village Chaal of Dharamjaigarh development block, Pusaur. Village Sisaringa of development block, and village Kodatarai of Pusaur development block. One of these villages will become the first solar model village of the district.

Gram Panchayats have been selected from all the development blocks of the district. Now for the next six months, there will be a continuous review of the applications made by the villagers for the schemes and promotion of solar energy, running public awareness campaigns, installation of domestic and community solar plants and other schemes in these villages. To make this process effective, a model village committee is being formed in each selected village, which will include Sarpanch, Secretary, public representative, Anganwadi workers, teachers, doctors, agricultural extension officers and concerned government officials as members. This committee will make door-to-door contact and motivate the villagers to adopt solar energy. Also P.M. Kusum Yojana will also provide information about Jal Jeevan Mission’s solar dual pumps, solar highmast, solar street lights and other renewable energy based systems.

Creda’s Assistant Engineer Vikram Verma said that during this competition, each village will prepare proposals for community solar plants as per its needs and will be presented at the district level. After completion of the six month period, all the villages will be evaluated by the district level committee. This assessment will be done on the basis of number of solar plants installed by villagers, applications made for schemes, community participation, available energy facilities and utilization of solar resources. On the basis of this evaluation, the first solar model village of the district will be selected and detailed DPR of the selected village will be prepared. It will be prepared and sent to the Energy Department, Government of Chhattisgarh by March 15, 2025, so that the village can be developed as a model village completely based on solar energy.
