CM Rekha Gupta’s announcement
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had announced a few days ago that the map of districts of Delhi city will be changed. Under this process, Civil Lines, Karol Bagh, Rohini, Narela, Najafgarh, City Sadar (Old Delhi), Keshavpuram, North Eastern and Eastern districts will be created. Whereas Shahdara district will be abolished.
Also, Central, New Delhi, South and West districts will be known by their own names, their boundaries will be determined according to the zones of the Municipal Corporation. A mini-secretariat will be set up in every new district, where except law and order, most of the government services will be available under one roof.
Reasons for changing the names of districts
According to officials, the main reason for changing the names of Delhi’s districts and fixing their boundaries is that the administrative boundaries of the districts and the boundaries of the municipal corporation zones should completely match each other. Due to which the work of administration will be easier and citizens will be able to avail government services.
