Indian women’s team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has broken her silence on postponing her wedding to Palash Muchhal. Mandhana released a lengthy statement on her Instagram story, in which she announced the annulment of her marriage to Palash Muchhal. Mandhan and Palash Muchhal were supposed to get married on November 23, but it was postponed that day. Mandhana has now issued a statement clarifying that the marriage has been called off.

Smriti Mandhana has shared a post on her social media. In this she wrote that, “There has been a lot of talk about my life over the past few weeks and I think it’s important that I talk about it now. I’m a very private person and I want to keep it that way, but I have to make it clear that the marriage is off. I want to end the matter here and ask you all to do the same. I ask that you respect the privacy of both families at this time and give us time to move forward at our own pace.”

“I think we all have a bigger purpose and for me that purpose has always been to represent my country at the highest level. I hope to play for India as long as possible, win trophies and that will always be my focus. Thank you all for your support. It’s time to move on,” Mandhan wrote.

On the wedding day of Mandhana and musician Palash, Mandhana’s father Srinivas Mandhana fell seriously ill and had to be hospitalized. Just before the wedding, Mandhana’s manager said that the wedding has been postponed indefinitely due to Mandhana’s father’s ill health. The very next day, Palash also fell ill. Since then, there have been many speculations about Palash and Mandhana’s relationship. Now Mandhana has clarified that the marriage is called off.
