Amritsar Police exposed cross border arms smuggling, smugglers arrested along with 5 pistols

Amritsar Police has achieved great success in the ongoing campaign against drugs and terrorism in Punjab. On Sunday (December 7), Amritsar’s Counter Intelligence Cell busted a cross-border arms smuggling module linked to Pakistan and arrested an operative. During the search, the police recovered a total of five pistols. Initial investigation revealed that the arrested accused along with his associate Saifli Singh was bringing the consignment of weapons at the behest of a handler from Pakistan. The plan was to deliver these weapons to criminals and gangsters in Punjab.

In this entire matter, an FIR has been registered in the State Special Operation Cell police station of Amritsar and investigation has been started. The police is now busy in catching the wires of the entire network and also investigating the back links. Punjab Police DGP posted on Twitter that Amritsar Counter Intelligence busted a cross-border arms smuggling module linked to Pakistan and arrested an operative. A total of five pistols were recovered.

Initial investigation revealed that the accused, along with his wanted accomplice Saifli Singh, was bringing consignments of weapons at the behest of a handler from Pakistan and supplying them to criminals and gangsters in Punjab. An FIR has been registered at SSOC Amritsar police station. Further investigation is underway to identify forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network.

He further wrote that Punjab Police stands by its promise to dismantle the cross-border arms network and ensure the safety of the people of the state. Earlier, BSF had also taken major action against narcotics and smuggling along the international border with Punjab. On Saturday, BSF troops neutralized three Pakistani drones along the International Border and seized more than 1.7 kg of heroin. This action is also being considered a big achievement in the direction of stopping drug trafficking and smuggling in Punjab.
