Material
- Sweet potatoes – 3 big
- Ghee – 2 to 3 tbsp
- Milk – 1 cup
- Jaggery – ½ cup (grated)
- Veldoda powder – ¼ tsp
- Cashews – 8 to 10
- Almonds – 8 to 10

- First of all, wash the sweet potato and clean it. Then boil it in a pressure cooker or pot until soft. After boiling let it cool completely and peel it.
- Mash the boiled yams well in a bowl. Heat a kadai and add one spoon of ghee. Once the ghee is hot, fry the cashew-almonds until light golden and keep aside in a plate.
- Now add some more ghee to the same pan and add the mashed yams. Cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly. Then add milk and let the mixture cook till it thickens.
- When the mixture thickens, add grated jaggery and Veldoda powder. Stir until jaggery is completely dissolved
- Cook until it separates from the spoon. Finally add the roasted cashew nuts and mix gently.
- Serve the hot, aromatic yam halwa to guests or family.
