In TasteAtlas’ 2026 ranking for noodle dishes, Vietnam stands second worldwide, trailing only Japan, with 18 representatives among the world’s 100 best.
The honored dishes span many regional styles of pho including rare beef, chicken, vegetarian, mixed and stir-fried versions — and a strong showing of vermicelli dishes such as good cha (grilled pork meatballs with vermicelli noodles), good luck (tomato and crab noodle soup), good bye mom tom (rice vermicelli noodles with fried tofu and shrimp paste), and bun bo Nam Bo (southern-style beef noodle).
The list also recognizes other Vietnamese specialties including mi Quang (Quang-style noodles) and tall mop (roasted pork with thick noodles), highlighting the country’s wide regional diversity in noodle traditions.
Japan leads the list with 26 representatives, including several ramen versions.
The ranking was based on 453,720 valid ratings for 11,781 dishes in TasteAtlas database.
Founded in 2015, international food magazine TasteAtlas links 9,000 local restaurants and showcases tens of thousands of dishes based on reviews and research by culinary experts, chefs, and users.
The site serves as a global map of traditional dishes made from local ingredients and aims to celebrate great food, foster pride in culinary traditions, and spark curiosity about dishes unfamiliar to many tourists.
