Big news for SC/ST category in Bihar, avail benefits immediately!

Patna. Bihar government has taken an important step towards making economically weak SC/ST families self-reliant. Pig Development Scheme has been started by the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department in Saran district, through which pigs of improved breed are being made available to the eligible beneficiaries at very low cost.

Pig unit on 90% subsidy

Under the scheme, a complete unit consisting of two female and one male boar is being provided to the interested persons. The total cost of this unit comes to around Rs 21,060, which includes the cost of the animals as well as the insurance premium. The government is bearing 90% of the total cost. Beneficiaries will have to deposit only Rs 2,106, which is just one-tenth of the total amount.

Apply by 31 December 2025

The application process for the scheme has started and will continue till December 31. Selection of applicants will be on “first come, first served” basis, hence eligible candidates are advised to apply early.

Strong employment opportunities for rural youth

Pig farming is considered a fast earning business in rural areas. The department believes that if initial assistance is provided, SC/ST families can create permanent employment at very low cost. The government wants more and more families to adopt self-employment at the local level and become economically empowered.

Training facility available to selected beneficiaries

Under the scheme, one day training will be given to the selected beneficiaries. This will include useful information related to nutrition management, vaccination, modern rearing methods and market sales. There is a provision of Rs 300 per beneficiary for training.

This scheme is available both offline and online.

Interested applicants can visit the District Animal Husbandry Office and submit offline application. Also, the option to apply online is also available.
